The State of New Jersey requires everyone operating a motorized vessel (this includes sailboats operating under power) to have a Boat Safety Certificate. Classroom sessions are designed to provide an overview of boating terminology, legal requirements, navigation rules, and general safety information. SEAS classes and exam for the Boat Safety Certification meet the requirements set by the State of New Jersey . The Boat Safety Class is eight hours of classroom instruction (including the test).
