The Abacos
Islands
Bahamas 201
Join us for a fabulous 9 day sailing vacation in the Abacos Islands of
the Bahamas. We will be sailing out of the Moorings base in Marsh
Harbour, Great Abaco, with our cruising area covering Great Abaco,
Little Abaco, and many cays of the North Eastern Bahamas.
Once the home of swashbuckling pirates and privateers, one of the
world's most desirable cruising areas is found in the clear,
reef-protected waters of the spectacular Abacos, Bahamas. The
central cruising area, providing short sails between islands, is
comprised of Great Abaco and Little Abaco, along with a delightful
string of sandy cays just east of these islands. It's an
excellent alternative to the British Virgin Islands, as its' uncrowded
anchorages are reminiscent of the BVI's early days of chartering.
Highlights of our itinerary include Hope Town, home to the famous candy
striped lighthouse located on Elbow Cay. Hope Town is a friendly
spot with interesting restaurants, bars and shops. Another
favorite anchorage we will visit is Treasure Island (the north end of
Guana Cay) with its coconut palm beach. A likely stop on our
itinerary is New Plymouth on Green Turtle Cay, where you can find the
most photograph-worthy colonial settlement, and where streets are lined
with pastel clapboard houses, some dating back two centuries.
Some additional ports of call we may visit are: Fowl Cay Marine Park,
for good snorkeling, Manjack Cay and Treasure Cay Resort, where one can
find beautiful beaches, great snorkeling and swimming.
Our boats are Moorings catamarans with 3/4 private staterooms, multiple
heads and showers. These boats are fully equipped “exclusive
line” sailing vessels, and include such amenities as autopilots, CD
players, electronic navigation systems, and electric anchor
windlass. There will be 6 or 8 people per boat. In addition
to sailing, we will be snorkeling, diving, exploring, sightseeing,
partying, and much more.
What's Included: 9 days and 8 nights aboard a sailboat, round
trip airfare (Newark to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas), food and beverages on
boat (self provisioned), group dinner ashore, use of snorkeling gear,
boat insurance, T-shirt, and parties.
What's Not Included: some meals ashore, transportation to
airport, customs/immigration fees, and possible mooring fees/boat
expenses.

Greetings, fellow SEAS sailors,
It's time to begin thinking about
our annual Columbus Day weekend Chesapeake
cruise. The summer heat will soon be subsiding, the autumn winds
will be picking up, and the Chesapeake
will once again be calling. Autumn Chesapeake sailing can be a
really exciting experience! Every year this cruise is a
fun-filled adventure, and, a great sailing learning experience.
This
yearSEAS
has five boats, including three boats for the cruise and two boats for
the Cruising Course. Crew size on each cruising boat, which are
in the 36 to 39 ft. range, will be 5 or 6 people – the makings for a
great social event at boat raft-ups and going to shore! You may
remember sitting at dockside restaurants in Annapolis or St. Michaels,
or even New Jersey, watching boats dock and sailors disembarking,
wondering what it would be like to be part of it all. Well,
here's your chance! Our travels will take us to Annapolis,
St. Michaels, or BaltimoreInnerHarbor.
The
itinerary
will
begin
on
Friday
evening,
October

perhaps after a day at the Annapolis
Boat Show just across the Bay. We will depart on Saturday,
October 10, for our three-day cruise, returning on Monday, October 12,
in the late afternoon. We'll spend one evening with our five
boats tied together and anchored in a quiet cove watching the sunset
and sipping cocktails, and the other evening at one of the Chesapeake's
bustling ports – Annapolis, St. Michaels, or Baltimore Inner Harbor.

you're interested in this cruise, contact Ray Kimber at raykimber@comcast.net or
